Ethnic Groups and way of living:
The cluster of the Togian lslands is home to a variety of ethnic groups
such as Bobongko, Baju Sama, Togian, Tojo and Saluan.
The environment is a manifestation of their ancestors or guardians, explaining
their religious devotion to environmental norms.
The culture is incoporated into body of knowledge, so that both parts form
an integral part of a belief system. In addition, the society is traditional
in outlook and thus in tune with nature.
The environment not only represents a vital element in their belief system,
but also serves as a source of Iivelihood.
Their know-how in the exploitation of natural resources, inherited from
their forefathers, is inherent in their sociocultural make-up and the
ways of their culture.
Fishing and coconuts
provide income for the people.
